Sgt. Maj. Gloria J. Tyrell's principal responsibility is the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of her soldiers.
St. Louis, MO, May 5, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sergeant Major Gloria Tyrell at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command-St. Louis has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, distinction and excellence in leadership.
Her principal responsibility is the accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of her soldiers. Sergeant Major Tyrell has taken on a variety of roles in the U.S. Army. With over 30 years of experience in the military, she now serves as the "last" Command Sergeant Major for the U.S. Army Human Resources Command-St. Louis, which closes in September 2011.
Serving as the highest ranked noncommissioned officer, Sergeant Major Tyrell supervises and performs related duties as the senior advisor to commanders, directors, chiefs of department, and staff agencies on all matters relating to enlisted personnel. Her dedicated efforts have been appreciated by her seniors, peers and subordinates; she was awarded the Order of Military Medical Merit, as well as named in the book "Tranferring the Ranks."
Sergeant Major initially joined the Army in order to continue her education and achieve personal fulfillment. She now holds a master's degree in health care administration and a bachelor's degree in applied sciences and is a celebrated member of her community. An affiliate of the Sergeant Major Association and the Federal Women's Program, she volunteers through the American Red Cross. In the future, Command Sgt. Maj. Tyrell hopes to attain a leadership role and speak publicly to soldiers returning home.
