Becky B. Conkey cares for patients before, during, and after surgery

EL PASO, TX, August 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Becky B. Conkey, Registered Nurse at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in perioperative nursing.

Ms. Conkey has 32 years of overall professional experience. As a registered nurse, she is responsible for performing pre- and post-operative care procedures, assisting physicians in the operating room, and teaching patient safety competencies, sterilization procedures to new staff and student nurses. She is a member of the Navy Nurse Corps Association and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.

Ms. Conkey earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2001, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Incarnate Word College. In 1990, she became a certified operating room nurse. She is currently pursuing her certified sexual assault nurse examiner designation and surgical services nurse educator certification. Ms. Conkey attributes her success to the experience she gained in the U.S. Navy, where she received 10 Medals and Ribbons of Honor.

Since 1921, William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) has provided care for military personnel and their eligible family members. They specialize in complete medical care, host nurse anesthesia, perioperative, operating room, scrub tech and physical assistant medical education programs, and serve as a trauma center for the surrounding community.
