Prior to his retirement from the U.S. Army, Ronald J. Surface led an impressive military career spanning over two decades, during which time he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For the duration of his career, he also served as a Crisis Action Agent, lending his services during such missions as Operation Desert Storm, where he developed computer programs for readiness analysis of National Guard units. Mr. Surface was distinguished for his expertise in contingency planning and became well-known for his ability to handle any and all situations. He was honorably discharged when a spinal cord injury rendered him unable to continue with the Army.
