Michael D. Carter oversees culinary and hospitality services for the growing demographic of "new retirees" - the active adult

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC, June 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael D. Carter, Director of the Culinary and Hospitality Services Department at Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in hospitality services.

With 35 years of professional experience, Michael D. Carter is best noted for his expertise in culinary and hospitality management. He assumed his current position at Lutheran Homes of South Carolina in 2008. In charge of the Culinary and Hospitality Services Department, Mr. Carter is responsible for overseeing the skilled nursing facility and the preparation of special diets for residents, planning menus, managing inventory, and recruiting and supervising staff. Prior to joining the facility, he worked in a Naval Hospital and as an Operations Manager in Tampa, FL. Mr. Carter is proud of his association with Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, a forward-thinking organization committed to serving the growing demographic of "new retirees" - the active adult. He attributes his success to the support that he received from his mother and the life skills that the U.S. Navy provided.

Mr. Carter earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is a Certified Hospitality Trainer through the American Hotel and Restaurant Association. His affiliations include the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America and The American Legion. In five years, Mr. Carter hopes to attain a corporate position within Lutheran Homes of South Carolina.
