Col John L. Heiss III U.S. Army (Retired) Named to Exclusive Membership Organization
Col Heiss coached teams in high school, the Army and overseas.

INDIALANTIC, FL, June 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Col Heiss has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence during two very gratifying careers. One career of 27 years of service in the U.S. Army and the other 20 years as a supervisor in Professional Tennis, ultimately for the ATP World Tour.

Col Heiss was initially drafted in 1952, was an OCS Honor Graduate at Ft. Sill, Ok in 1954, and had numerous Artillery assignments, attended Command & General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. Serving with outstanding and motivated troops resuIted in his receiving three below-the-zone promotions, the Army Staff (ODCSOPS and ACSI) and Secretary of Defense (SECDEF I) Medals. Two Legions of Merit, one Bronze star, three Commendation Medals etc. He also commanded one Battery, two Battalions and One Group.

In 1980, Col Heiss was hired as a Tour Director for the USTA and Deputy Referee of the US Open as he had played tennis since age seven, won High School and College Conference championships (serving as Captain each year), competed (when possible) in the Army and was a certified line and chair umpire. He then worked as a Tour Supervisor for the Men's Tennis council and the ATP World Tour responsible for Men's Professional events while also writing the first USTA Tour Director and ATP Tour Supervisor Manuals.

Always a believer that good health, great friends and the Golden Rule make you a better person and competitor resulted in him winning four Inter-Service Tennis Championships, over 150 events in tennis, handball, racquetball, badminton, squash and table tennis. Col Heiss also coached teams in high school, the Army and overseas.

Col Heiss completed postgraduate coursework at Shippensburg University and received his bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Millikin University, Decatur IL. There he is a member of the Hall of Fame and is also on the Illinois Basketball Team Hall of Fame.
