Bryan C. Dowd recognized for nearly two decades of invaluable contributions to rehabilitation counseling and mental health services

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, December 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bryan C. Dowd, Counseling Psychologist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in rehabilitation counseling and mental health services.

A military veteran himself, Bryan C. Dowd is pleased to lend his services to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a counseling psychologist. Celebrating nearly 20 years with the organization, he excels in the provision of rehabilitative services for disabled veterans. Mr. Dowd not only works with clients, but networks with the administration to negotiate monetary benefits. He also composes grant requests, oversees financial benefits, handles burial allowances and provides assistance with job transition, transportation and job searches. Driven to help each and every one of his fellow veterans, Mr. Dowd works tirelessly to assess the strengths of his clients by developing personal and professional goals and preparing them for employment.

During Mr. Dowd's most recent interview with a representative from Cambridge Who's Who, he commented, "I received these [supportive] services myself as a service-disabled veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Helping other veterans [that are] experiencing challenges is the best way [that] I can give back for what has been done for me. Every time one of my clients experiences a success [along] their journey, I [witness] their sense of accomplishment and excitement." In recognition of outstanding efforts in his field, Mr. Dowd was Nominated Professional Employee of the Year in 2009 by the Iowa Federal Executive Council. He was also selected as a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who for the 2009/2010 year. Mr. Dowd looks forward to continuing on with the VA and intends to make a positive impact on as many veterans as possible.

Mr. Dowd holds a master's degree in rehabilitation from the University of Iowa, earned in 1992, and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Drake University. He is an IA Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and is a former affiliate of the National Rehabilitation Administration Association, the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association, the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, Phi Delta Kappa International and Pi Lambda Theta.
