Dr. Shyamala Karuvannur, a leading professional in health care, celebrates 10 years in the industry

RANCHO SANTA FE, CA, October 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Shyamala Karuvannur, Attending Physician for the Department of Veterans Affairs, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

Dr. Karuvannur has more than 10 years of experience as a Board Certified Attending Physician in Internal Medicine in the USA .Prior to coming to the U.S., she worked as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist in India and Saudi Arabia. The dual degrees she earned in Internal Medicine (from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine) and OB&GYN (from Gandhi Medical College in India) give her a unique advantage. She very competently uses this advantage in the care of her patients and it also makes her an excellent teacher. Her current job involves taking care of veterans with complicated medical problems including PTSD and sexual trauma. She is also actively involved in teaching medical residents and students.

Her main research has been in the field of military sexual trauma and she has presented nationally and internationally on this subject. Before coming to San Diego she was the Medical Director of Women's Health and Site Director of Clinical Medicine at the VA in Northport, NY. For her achievements, Dr. Karuvannur has been listed in Americas Top Physicians 2010. Dr. Karuvannur is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
