Richard A. Sibert leads regional veteran outreach efforts

Claysville, PA, December 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard A. Sibert, Commander of The American Legion James R. Hunt Post 639 Claysville, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in veteran services.

In the relatively short amount of time that Richard A. Sibert has served as Commander of The American Legion James R. Hunt Post 639 Claysville, he has been recognized as one of the emerging leaders in veteran services. He was honored as the Post Adjutant of the Year in 2005, as the Post Commander of the Year in 2007, and with the United States Army Freedom Award in 2008. He is a life member of The American Legion, AMVETS and Disabled American Veterans. This will mark Sibert's fifth year with the Post, where he draws upon his expertise in community relations to assist the financial officer, oversee repayment operations, and liaise with the veteran community.

Driven by the desire to help people and support his nation's heroes, Sibert attributes his success as Commander to his network of supportive colleagues. In addition to his work with The American Legion, Sibert is on the board of directors of the Claysville Community Center and contributes regularly to the East Finley Township Park, McGuffey Park and Disabled American Veterans. He holds a bachelor of arts in social science and secondary education from Waynesburg University, earned in 1996.

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly three million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.
