ARLINGTON, TX, October 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Calvin E. Phillips, who retired from the U.S. Army and the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) as Supervisory Manager, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in military service.

Mr. Phillips enjoyed over 40 years of military and federal service. Recognized as an expert in investigations of material and financial data analysis, he was responsible for overseeing defense and veterans' affairs activities, supervising a team of auditors, and conducting congressional related investigations. Prior to joining GAO, Mr. Phillips served in the Army on active duty from 1958 to 1978, beginning in artillery and advancing to finance and accounting. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He attributes his success and longevity to working hard and paying strict attention to detail.

An alumnus of Boston University, Mr. Phillips received his Master's Degree in Business and Finance in 1975. He is affiliated with the Association of Military Comptrollers and Phi Beta Sigma. A widower after losing his wife, Beulah Virginia Phillips, to cancer in 2007, he volunteers actively with the Widowed Persons Service and computer classes at the Tarrant County Community College.
