DORR, MI, July 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rebecca Berndt-Downen, Global War on Terrorism Outreach Specialist for Grand Rapids Vet Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of veterans services.

Mrs. Berndt-Downen's expertise is in veteran readjustment issues. In her 12-year military career, she served in Afghanistan for nine months and earned the honor of being one of only 80 people chosen to be an officer in the Medical Corps. She attributes the success that she has found both as a serviceman and civilian to her determination and perseverance.

Her professional affiliations include the American Counseling Association, The American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In her spare time, she volunteers with Stand Down for Homeless Veterans and various veterans associations, as well as participates in Civil War reenactments. In five years, Mrs. Berndt-Downen aspires to obtain her Ph.D. in Psychology, and become a psychologist in the Army Reserve and a counselor at Grand Rapids Vet Center.
