Bernard J. Cottingham Honored for Accomplishments in Navigation
Cambridge Who's Who recognizes Bernard J. Cottingham for 40 years of dedication

LANCASHIRE, United Kingdom, May 4, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bernard J. Cottingham, Retired Merchant Navy Officer, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in navigation.

Mr. Cottingham is retired from a 40-year marine career and has traveled extensively as a mariner to North and South America, Australia and continental ports of call. He also served as the chief officer on a ferry service between Ireland and England. He is a widower with three sons and a daughter and was married to his wife Bernadette for 46 years. His son Desmond is married and is a personnel manager for a shipping company. His son Paul owns Sunnyfield Services care homes for people with learning disabilities along with his wife. Mr. Cottingham's other son Neil is married and a lieutenant commander in the Royal Navy. His daughter Orla is a stage and screen actor.

Mr. Cottingham received his Shipmaster Ticket from the Liverpool Marine Academy. He holds certification in radio communication; firefighting, first aid and secondary college radar.
