Sale of six additional SimWelderTM turn-key Virtual Reality Welding Trainers to the Australian Army
VRSim, Inc. announces the sale of six additional SimWelderTM turn-key Virtual Reality Welding Trainers to the Australian Army. This follow on sale was made in conjunction with VRSim's re-seller partner Training Systems Australia.
EAST HARTFORD, CT, May 06, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After purchasing its first SimWelderTM in 2008, the Australian Army will increase its welding training capacity by adding six new units. The installation will include training capabilities for GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) for mild steel butt welds and aluminum tee, corner and butt welds in multiple positions, as well as SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) for mild steel tee and butt welds in multiple positions.
With most military vehicles and equipment made of metal, welding is a critical skill for construction, repair and maintenance both on and off the battlefield. The risks associated with defective welds can be catastrophic, including the loss of lives and expensive equipment. "The U.S. Army has successfully used SimWelderTM for over two years. Both the Australian and U.S. Armies are seeing an increase in the quality of welds produced by new welders. Using SimWelderTM, trainees can do multiple passes in the time it takes to set up a single weld in a booth. With this kind of repetition, men and women learn how to produce high quality welds in the same or less time" according to Matthew Wallace, CEO VRSim.
SimWelderTM is a cost effective, stand-alone training appliance. SimWelderTM augments traditional welding training by providing instructors with objective feedback, and allowing the trainee to do more repetitions without the added costs of materials, consumables and energy. Using SimWelderTM, students hold a physical welding torch and wear a real welding mask while working in an interactive, computer generated environment. SimWelderTM provides a safe and healthy working environment for trainees, and minimizes the impact of welding on natural resources through reduced material and energy consumption. By simulating welding, no gas is burned, no metal is consumed, no waste is created, and no harmful or toxic emissions are released. Whether novice or expert, welders learn better welding techniques, faster and with less waste.
