Aretha Battle Honored for Excellence in Military Procurement
Aretha Battle earned the highest level certification in contracting from the Defense Acquisition University

BLYTHEWOOD, SC, May 19, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Aretha Battle, Procurement and Contracting Officer with the United States Army, has been recognized as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of military procurement.

Aretha Battle has 12 years of experience and specializes in supply chain management and procurement. At her current post, she is responsible for contracting, purchasing, and supervising employees and team leads. She was in charge of 4,000 Third Country Nationals in various countries including Kuwait and Iraq. In 1984, she joined the United States Army as a Private. In 1986, she returned to college and was commissioned in 1989 as a Logistics Officer while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 2000, she was nominated and selected to be a part of the prestigious Army Acquisition Corps and became a Procurement Officer.

Hard work, determination and dedication are the undisputed keys to Ms. Battle's success. In 2002, Ms. Battle received her Master of Business Administration from Regis University. Certified in international supply chain management, she holds diplomas in logistics. She became a Professional Purchasing Manager through the American Purchasing Society and earned the highest level certification in contracting from the Defense Acquisition University. Ms. Battle was nominated for the Legion of Merit Award for lifetime achievements and the Bronze Star Medal. She also received two Meritorious Service Medals for her outstanding performance in procurement during wartime and peacetime. As an Army retired officer, Ms. Battle plans to attain a civilian position in the field of procurement.
