TUCSON, AZ, October 12, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David Orringer, President and Medical Director of Velo Med Urgent Care, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of medicine.

With more than 10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr. Orringer currently specializes in urgent care medicine. As president and medical director of Velo Med Urgent Care, he is responsible for managing operations and working in the outpatient urgent care center. He decided to pursue a career in medicine after working as a marine biologist in Rhode Island. A recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service, Dr. Orringer also received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal in 2005, the Sikorsky Rescue Award for performance in aircraft rescue in 2004, and various awards from the Air Force. He attributes his success to his drive and determination.

Dr. Orringer trained in general surgery at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He received his MD through the U.S. Air Force. Additionally, he earned his Master's Degree in Marine Biology from The University of Rhode Island and his Bachelor of Arts in History and Asian Studies from Dartmouth College. His professional affiliations include the Special Operations Medical Association and the Urgent Care Association of America. Prior to attaining his current position, Dr. Orringer served as the section chief for aerospace medicine for combat search and rescue units at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
