With 23 years of experience as a nurse, Ms. Desmarais has been in her current position at Bay Pines VA Healthcare System for eight years. An expert in psychiatric and mental health nursing, her responsibilities as a nurse practitioner include working with veterans affected by combat trauma and with survivors of military sexual trauma.

Ms. Desmarais received her Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida in 2007. A member of the International Society of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau, she hopes to one day earn her Ph.D. She attributes her success to her passion for her profession and her desire to learn and help others, and was inspired to become a nurse when she was in the United States Navy.
